TOPIC: Inspecting old cranes: key actions in Dubai and the Middle East


Mohammed Sadiq Sheriff has 25 years’ work experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Since 2001 he has been carrying out third party inspections of lifting equipment.


Since 2017 he has been assessing inspection bodies throughout GCC, Europe and Asia on behalf of the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC), as an ISO 17020 Freelance Lead Assessor, Technical Assessor and Trainer.


As technical director at Gulf Test since 2021 he has been a driving force behind the business, achieving accreditations for end of design life inspection of overhead cranes and mobile Cranes.


He is passionate about the positive influence that these inspection services can bring to UAE industry, with the aim of generating growth, ensuring health and well-being and driving innovation in the UAE and other GCC countries.


He is a graduate member of IOSH, a full member of IIRSM, and a member of NASP. He has several LEEA Diplomas to his credit. He has worked as an Aramco Approved inspector at various onshore and offshore Aramco facilities for lifting equipment categories.


He has a keen understanding of Dubai Public Health and Safety Regulations, OSHAD Code of Practices, DM Technical Guidelines, ISO/IEC 17020, Safety Inspections as per ENAS Guidelines and EIAC requirements, and has in-depth knowledge of international standards on lifting equipment inspections.
